Today's Day Trip tip is Wekiwa Springs State Park — a famous state park located in Apopka, in the Orlando metropolitan area.

With over 2,500 acres of preserved land, with waters coming from an underground cave system that feeds the Wekiva River, it is considered a “natural gem” of the region, highly sought after by residents and tourists alike.

Upon arrival, visitors find the perfect environment for relaxation or adventure. They can swim and dive in the springs, kayak and canoe down the river, explore hiking and biking trails, and observe the region's rich fauna and flora. The park also has picnic areas and spaces ideal for families who want to spend the day in contact with nature.

Admission is quite affordable: tickets cost an average of US$6 per vehicle (up to 8 people). The park is open every day of the year, from 8 a.m. until sunset. Due to high demand, it is necessary to make an online reservation to guarantee daily access.

It is estimated that nearly 60 million people live in areas classified as Dental Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs), where access to dental care is insufficient.
